Kiwi And Blueberry Bliss!! ;)

Oh. My.God  Best juice I've ever made! Juicing has been something I've been wanting to do! And it's the first time I made juice without turning into a smoothie by adding dairy. Early spring cleaning the body! So proud of myself! :P :D

It was most annoying; that the hotel he stayed at this time didn't even have a microwave! grr So he had to eat my homemade pizza cold!! >.< Oh well hot cups of chacha tea made it better ;P
And what is more comforting than eating take away.. on the floor.. watching the AFL on a Sunday arvo! :P Well he was watching it while I savoured the food!

It was a darling of a weekend! Counting down for his next trip down. Miss him tremendously! -.-
Nuff of my rambles and corniness! :P

Strawberry Coconut Loaves

The recipe makes 8 small loaves. I just made one big loaf! It's really up to you. Also you can experiment and use different fruit! The skies the limit! :P Oh another thing.. you can use greek yogurt instead of vanilla yogurt.

Strawberry coconut loaves (courtesy of Better Home and Gardens Aus)

Ingredients
Melted butter  for greasing
1 1/2 cups self raising flour
1/2 cup shredded coconut
2 eggs
1 cup caster sugar
1/2 cup light olive oil
200g vanilla yogurt
1 punnet of strawberries, washed, hulled
1/4 demerara sugar

1 Preheat oven to 180C. Brush an 8 hole non-stick mini loaf tin with butter. Sift flour into a bowl, then stir in coconut. Beat eggs and sugar in a separate bowl until pale and creamy. Add oil  and whisk until combined. Make a well in centre of the dry ingredients and pour in egg mixture. Add yoghurt and stir with a wooden spoon until combined and smooth.

2 Thinly slice half the strawberries and set aside. Chop remaining strawberries, add to mixture and stir until combined. Spoon mixture and stir until combined. Spoon mixture evenly into prepared loaf-tin holes.

3 Top mixture in each hole evenly with strawberry slices, then sprinkle with demerara sugar. Bake for 30mins or until loaves are cooked when tested with a skewer. Stand for 15 mins before turning out onto a wire rack to cool.

ENJOY! ;P

Just what I need after a crazy weekend! (it would've been even crazier if I (1) Didn't have strict ass parents and (2) My boyfriend had joined in the booze dept (he had a crazy night with his mates on that Friday so he didn't have a sip of the devils drink! Such a good boy; being in control! .. Sometimes.. :P
Anyhoots enough of the excess rambles... So my darling of a boyfriend bought me a delicious chicken and leek pie (MMM TWAS DEELISH! :PP) and a glorious cup of lentil soup.. darn forgot the exact name! But yes.. it was such a lovely treat especially after a tiresome day. Ohh yummy! Grr this is all making me very hungry! Must go to beddd!!

Take care and drink responsibly...;P,

My first taste- Fennel.

I've been wanting to try fennel for a while now. And on Sunday I finally did! I just sauteed them;keeping it simple. I just wanted to taste the fennel without having other flavours overpowering it. While I was finding recipes I saw heaps of comments complaining about the licorice like taste of fennel and how sauteing got rid of the taste. Well some of the fennel was a tad on the crunchy side(I had thick pieces of fennel >.<)  BUT I didn't mind the taste. It wasn't a strong flavour, but there was a subtle hint and I didn't mind. Even the rest of the family enjoyed... well just my parents.. my younger brother is hesitant with trying new foods >.<.. grrr. :P Just like my boyfriend =.=

Overall, loved it and definitely going to cook fennel again! :P :)

The recipe I used is here

Enjoy! (don't be afraid to try new foods especially vegetables and fruits!! :P)

A Fresh Start!

Yes.. self explainatory.. A person who loves her food! (and being such a paparazzi  about it XP) I'm no professional cook/chef nor photographer. I'm just an Art student who has a wild love affair with food and capturing culinary memories! :P

And what better way to start by posting photos of "kiribath" (Milk Rice). And you must be thinking why. (or/and wondering WTH is this?!  :P) Well in the Sinhala culture, milk rice is a very special dish. Served at very special occasions such as New Years, Birthdays or even before heading out to complete an exam or starting a new chapter in life. It plays an important role and a dish that holds many memories in my mind!
